GE also makes appliances under names “Hotpoint” and “RCA”. Knowing the age of your appliance can help you find out the manufacturer warranty and decide if it’s worth the repair.
The date code is in the letters on your serial number.
Date codes – First letter is the month and the second letter is the year.
A = January  D = February  F = March  G = April  H = May  L = June  M = July  R = August  S = Sept.  T = Oct.  V = Nov.  Z = Dec.
G = 1980 & 1992Â Â H = 1981 & 1993Â Â L = 1982 & 1994Â Â M = 1983 & 1995Â Â R = 1984 & 1996Â Â S = 1985 & 1997Â Â T = 1986 & 1998Â Â V = 1987 & 1999Â Â Z = 1988 & 2000Â Â A = 1989 & 2001Â Â D = 1990 & 2002Â Â Â F= 2003Â Â G = 2004Â Â H =2005. The same letter code will be used and repeated in a twelve year cycle.
Example serial number: FR221102
FR221102 – F = month – March
FR221102 – R = year 1984 or 1996
FR was made in March 1996 or in March 1984
